For people working with CO₂ (DIY)

Hi everyone!

I just wanted to share a gadget that’s been really useful for me when working with CO₂ and Pioreactors. It’s a pressure gauge (I’m including the link below) that’s typically used for beer kegs. It allows you to precisely control the pressure inside the keg.

However, it’s also very handy for dispensing very small volumes of CO₂, since the gauge is quite sensitive. In my case, our lab doesn’t usually work with gases, so we didn’t have many options for using highly accurate cylinders. This item has turned out to be very cost-effective, and so far it’s giving me excellent results. (I paid 40Eur for it, and it accepts both 16g cylinders and SodaStreamer ones).

I connect the outlet to a duotight adapter – 6.35mm (¼") Female x 8mm (5/16") Female Reducer – which then attaches to tubing with a luer lock, and from there directly into the Pioreactor.

I also designed a 3D-printed base to make it easier to use, since it doesn’t stand very well on its own.

Hopefully some of you will find this helpful!
