Increasing OD maximum?

What does anyone think would be the best way to increase the maximum OD readable (for e coli)? Increasing the intensity of the LED? Would there be any applicability for the adafruit spectrometer? Just looking to run a high density culture and would like to get the maximum OD as high as possible.
Thanks.

Worth noting that this is possible. I was just chatting to a Hamilton rep that pointed me to their total cell density sensor that can read up to 300 g/L cell density: https://www.hamiltoncompany.com/knowledge-base/article/dencytee-arc-total-cell-density-measurement-principle. Might be good to try the different wavelength like they use? Don’t know what one the pioreactor currently uses

The Pioreactor uses 900nm, and specifically side-scatter (90deg). The tool linked uses back-scatter for super dense cultures (~0deg). One could redesign the top-vial-holder to use the second PD (currently in the REF pocket) to measure near ~0deg signal.

The V1.0 top-vial-holder had a 45deg scatter for dense cultures, but we phased this out.

Hi @Matt_int , we changed from the 90 degree angle to the 45 degree angle and could measure up to about 10 OD (the graph shows both the 90 and 45 degree angle with the 45 degree one being the higher line). Please see this thread and linked threads.
