Pioreactor 100mL version?

Hi,

I saw something in the recent release notes here:

that referred to a 100mL custom version?

Just curious what that is - is there a 100mL vessel for the Pioreactor somewhere? Or upcoming?

Thanks!
Victor

Hey Victor!

The latest release means that you can tell the software that you’re using hardware that is different to the standard pioreactor hardware, but there isn’t any official hardware that’s larger than the new 40mL version. We use the pioreactor software to control our 1L reactor and we found that sometimes the software would get a bit confused about how we weren’t e.g. overflowing our vial! Other people in the forums are also working with larger hardware (you can search).

Got it - thanks for clearing up!

Aha - 1L is pretty awesome, but probably bigger than I need for my home experiments, at least right now =). However, I figured 100mL might be perfect, and so was really excited when the release notes mentioned a custom 100mL size .

I did another forum search - and I found this earlier thread, which references these two efforts:

Both of these seem to use a larger vessel (500mL or 1L), which then pumps liquid continually through the smaller standard size Pioreactor vessel. It looks really awesome - but might be overkill for my setup at this stage - I suspect I’m going to have enough trouble trying to keep everything sterile/aseptic with a single vessel (although being able to integrate in the Atlas Scientific pH probes is pretty cool).

Do you happen to know if there’s any 100mL single vessel solutions people might have mentioned, in that video call you were on, or that you’ve heard of? Or anything in between 40mL and 500mL, that’s simpler for somebody starting out to get going? (I’m not sure what the size/volume limits are, in terms of the OD readings on the PioReGot it - thanks for clearing up!
